INGRAINED

INGRAINED

Larry has been a close friend of mine for quite a few years now, and is one of the most inspiring people I know.  He’s been selflessly doing things for the Columbia skateboarding community for years and has had a major impact on every generation that has come after him.  When I saw the beautiful things he was making out of wood I wanted to document the process, as well as tell a little bit of his story.

The major theme of the film is how skateboarding has affected everything in Larry’s life, whether directly related or not.  To those of us who have grown up skateboarding, it’s not a sport or a hobby.  It’s something unexplainable that changes who we all are as people.  It’s a hard feeling to explain or display, but this film is an effort to offer a perspective that few outside of skateboarding will ever experience.

My favorite pieces are the ones I make about friends and people who are close to me.  It’s hard to even think about the weekend we shot this as a “shoot” because although we did work hard, in the end we just hung out and talked about things we were both passionate about.

I’m excited to release this short film, and announce that it has been chosen as an Offical Selection in the 2014 Indie Grits FIlm Festival, as well as featured by Skateboarder Magazine, The Skateboard Mag, and Skate Daily.
